|What:||Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam, MA will be presenting their 2017 Singing Christmas Tree|
Spectacular in eight presentations the first two weekends of December. Featuring the Bethany
Choir and Orchestra, this 43rd annual edition of the Spectacular rings in the Christmas holidays,
proclaiming the true meaning of Christmas … the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The 60-voice Choir, adorned on a 25’ tall Christmas tree as ornaments, will be accompanied by
the 18-piece Bethany Orchestra. For this year’s musical, the Spectacular is returning to
“The Nativity Symphony”, with songs familiar and new, arranged and orchestrated by
Bradley Knight, the principal pianist & arranger/orchestrator for the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
The Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular will be done in four musical segments: The
Proclamation of Christmas, The Advent of Christmas, The Celebration of Christmas and The
Glory of Christmas. Enhancing the music will be lighting on the Tree, “dancing” to the beat of the
music, in addition to “environmental projection” on the walls complementing the mood and focus
of the music. The Bethany Drama Department, under the direction of Marilene Allen
(owner/director of The Red Door Theatre), will re-enact the nativity scene with Mary, Joseph,
Jesus, the angels, shepherds and wise men. The Spectacular becomes a feast for the eyes and
ears bringing the Advent of the Christ-child alive once again to all who attend, regardless of age!
Presentations are Friday, December 1st at 7 pm; Saturday, December 2nd at 6 pm and Sunday,
December 3rd at 3 and 6 pm. The schedule will be the same for the second weekend,
December 8-10. All seats are free with no individual reserved seating. Seating for large groups can be arranged by calling the church office. There will be signing for the deaf in each presentation as well as a well-staffed nursery for infants.
